About

The annual Breakthrough T1D Central Ohio Gala brings together the Central Ohio diabetes community for an unforgettable evening featuring an expansive silent auction, one-of-a-kind live auction, seated dinner, live entertainment, networking opportunities, and a night of fundraising all in support of Breakthrough T1D and its mission.

This year’s event will take a step back in time to the Roaring 1920s. Theme/ Attire:

Roaring 20s. Think flapper dresses/ men’s suits, maybe a 20’s hat or flapper headband. We want to celebrate the breakthroughs in T1D research from the 1920s to the 2020s and how far we’ve come.

Honoree:

We are thrilled to announce that Karen Jefferson Morrison, Senior Vice President of OhioHealth Corporation, has been named the 2024 Honoree of the Central Ohio Gala. She will receive The Steven A. Davis Philanthropic Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the community.

Fund A Cure Families:

The Croak Family: Gracie is an energetic 11-year-old who loves Greek food and rock climbing. Like any active child, she embraces life with enthusiasm, but managing her Type 1 diabetes sets her apart. Every day, she faces a multitude of decisions that most kids her age don’t have to think about.

The Croak Family has found invaluable hope, support, education, and friendship through Breakthrough T1D. We are committed to envisioning a future free from Type 1 diabetes while improving the lives of those currently living with it.

The Hennigan Family: Mila is a vibrant 11-year-old who likes baking, creating artwork and sewing.  She plays basketball and lacrosse. She approaches life with the same enthusiasm as any active child, but managing her Type 1 diabetes adds a unique challenge. Each day, she navigates decisions that most kids her age don’t need to consider.

The Hennigan Family has found invaluable hope, support, education, and friendship through Breakthrough T1D. We are dedicated to striving for a future free from Type 1 diabetes while enhancing the lives of those living with it today.
