POSTPONED, please return soon for more information.

Will T1D ever be cured? The new book Targeting a Cure for Type 1 Diabetes chronicles the diverse efforts now underway to answer this critical question. The writers from diatribe (www.diaTribe.org), an award-winning free online newsletter about diabetes, have collaborated with the American Diabetes Association to explain the research and to lay out their objective assessment of each therapy—giving readers a clear understanding of the potential each treatment holds and the optimism each deserves. Highlighting the opportunities and obstacles, this book focuses on the four most promising research areas: immune therapeutics, islet and pancreas transplantation, beta-cell regeneration and survival agents, and the artificial pancreas.

Breakthrough T1D Bay Area is pleased to host two of the authors at a special wine & cheese event in San Francisco on Thursday, September 12 Kelly Close, Editor-in-Chief, and Adam Brown, Managing Editor, of diaTribe will join us to give an overview of the book, discuss some of the most promising scientific approaches to curing T1D, and answer any questions. Both Kelly and Adam have T1D and work at Close Concerns (www.closeconcerns.com) and diabtribe to educate companies and patients about the latest happenings in diabetes.
