A Warm Welcome to our New Board Members
This past month, we welcomed three new chapter board members and said farewell to those retiring. Please join us in welcoming Sapna Bhambhani, Andy Drechsler, and Joe McHale to our New Jersey Metro & Rockland County Chapter Board of Directors!
- Sapna Bhambhani is a familiar face to our chapter members. Meet Sapna Bhambhani and learn about her passion for community engagement and why she was inspired to join our Board.
- For Andy Drechsler, type 1 diabetes is a huge part of his home and work life. Learn more about Andy, his connections and inspirations, and his vision.
- Joe McHale is very familiar with the burdens that T1D brings, but he refuses to let that get in his way. Once you meet Joe, you’ll understand; he’s not looking to survive with T1D, he’s looking to thrive.
We are thrilled to have such a dynamic group of leaders joining the chapter board. They are dedicated volunteers and each of them have had a unique impact on the T1D community. Together, board members provide volunteer guidance to the chapter and the local T1D community, and work tirelessly to improve lives and accelerate progress towards ending T1D.
As members of the Board of Directors, Bhambhani, Drechsler and McHale, join an elite group of peers. Fellow members include: David Goodes, Joe DiDomizio, Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Audrey Geiger, Reggie Gross, Jeremy Kopcsik, Eva Kohn, Dina Madonick, Mark Monahan, Neil Posner, Carolyn Sansevere, Chrisie Scott, Mark Taddeo, and Jon Wilk.
We’re also welcoming a new Board President, Dave Goodes! Over the next two years, Dave will lead his fellow board members and play a vital role in executing fundraising, leadership, and advocacy activities to benefit local families and push our research forward.
And, as we welcome Dave to this position, we would be remiss if we didn’t thank Chrisie Scott for her service.
For the last two years, Chrisie has served as our Board President, leading strategy, stories and heart to drive our chapter forward. Chrisie reflected on her service as Board President in a recent post and also shared beautiful photos of her gift from our chapter, a vibrant piece of word art created by fellow T1D mom and local artist, Toni Field of It’s About Art.

Toni created this one-of-a-kind piece for Chrisie based on words, thoughts, and sweet send-offs from Chrisie’s peers.
We can’t thank Chrisie enough for her contributions to our community, and we can’t wait to see what our new members accomplish for our community in the years ahead.
