What’s happening with Walk?

in ,

Breakthrough T1D One Walk has never just been about a 5K route, the tents, and the music.

The Walk represents the unified spirit of our type 1 diabetes community coming together – as one force – raising funds and awareness to end T1D.

And, due to the painful reality of COVID-19, we know that this year’s One Walk events may need to look a little different. But JDRF remains laser-focused on our mission, providing tools, resources and experience to support the T1D community and critical diabetes research.

We know that our T1D community is very familiar with challenges. And, I firmly believe that if there ever was a community that can show the world that it’s #StrongerTogether, it’s our Breakthrough T1D Walk family.

So, what comes next?

First, I want to reiterate how grateful we are for you.

Your continued support – as a volunteer, walker, fundraiser, and Breakthrough T1D Champion – is vital as we work toward a world without diabetes.

Second, I encourage you to register for Breakthrough T1D One Walk.

Together we will make the 2020 Walks successful in raising funds needed to keep Breakthrough T1D research efforts thriving.

Rally your family, ask your friends to show support by adding their name to your team rosterhave fun with it! Any re-imagined Walk will NOT change our unity and commitment to finding a cure.

Lastly, while I don’t have many details now on what our fall Walk season will look like, I will be in touch in the coming weeks to share more. These decisions are being made in lockstep with fellow Walk teams, thought leaders, board members, Youth Ambassadors and event volunteers

Together, we will figure out how to rally our diabetes community and bring the best parts of Walk – and Walk Day – to you and your team.

With you and your family by our side, Breakthrough T1D will be able to empower our community to continue to support our research to find a cure for T1D.
