Join us on Wednesday, April 23rd at Whipple Auditorium in the Cedar Rapids Public Library for a FREE event as we hear from researcher Courtney Ackeifi, PhD, about exciting new research regarding type 1 diabetes!
Courtney Ackeifi, PhD is a scientist in the Improving Lives program at Breakthrough T1D, focused on enhancing the lives of individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Dr. Ackeifi works to accelerate the development of drugs and devices that enable people with T1D live longer and healthier lives.
Before her role at BreakthroughT1D, Dr. Ackeifi was the Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs at Synapse, a firm specializing in commercialization and communications strategy for the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. As a bench researcher, she focused on regenerative medicine and drug development at Harvard Stem Cell Institute and Mount Sinai. Her thesis and postdoctoral work developed a beta cell regenerative therapy for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Ackeifi earned a PhD in biophysics and systems pharmacology from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a BA in biochemistry and music from Wellesley College.
