About the Gala
The Breakthrough T1D Hope Gala is the premier signature Breakthrough T1D event in Maryland and DC metropolitan area and has been for more than 20 years. The Hope Gala brings together more than 700 prominent philanthropic community leaders to raise critical funds for type one diabetes (T1D) research. The black-tie Hope Gala will feature a seated dinner, silent and live auctions, the opportunity to directly fund research through our Fund A Cure program, and an After Party to remember.

6:00PM – Cocktail Hour and Silent Auction
- Silent Auction: The Breakthrough T1D Gala auction is like no other! Featuring more than 150 packages, including once-in-a-lifetime experiences, luxury items, and unique opportunities, this is an auction you won’t want to miss.
- Mobile Bidding: Mobile bidding will be used during the Gala’s silent auction. Guests attending both in-person and remotely may bid directly from their smartphone–anywhere and anytime! You will receive a text message in the days leading up to the event with information on how to begin bidding. Bid early and often right from your fully charged smartphone!
7:30PM – Seated Dinner, Live Auction, and Fund A Cure
- Led by our Gala Emcee, Maureen Umeh of Fox 5, join us for an inspired program featuring remarks from leaders in our T1D community, and a one-of-a-kind live auction.
9:30PM – After Party
- The After Party features live entertainment by Trademark, dancing, open bar, late night bites, and more!
