We were so happy to see everyone back at the gorgeous Jefferson Hotel on Saturday, March 1st for the Breakthrough T1D Mid-Atlantic One Night Gala! Over 350 guests from the entire Mid-Atlantic Chapter footprint came out to the historic hotel to raise over $750,000 and help turn Type One into Type None! Our incredible Gala Committee, helmed by Laura, David, Alex, Melissa, Molly, & Ethan Cramer, hosted an inspiring evening where all enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and an after-party with music by the amazing band, Shades of Gray!

Auction Chair Brittany Goodwin led the Gala Committee in the curation of an incredible selection of silent and live auction items resulting in raising more than $105,000 for lifesaving diabetes research. We are thankful for all of our generous donors and bidders who participated in our 2025 Auction. As always, it takes a village! Between the new Beach Bags Live Auction Sweepstakes that raised a remarkable $16,000, incredibly unique Live Auction packages like Michelin-Star Private Dining for 8, and the return of the beautiful Eastern Shore Getaway to the Live Auction, it is impossible to choose a favorite experience of the evening.

We honored Jody and Stefan Cametas as shining examples of philanthropic leadership within our community, having shown remarkable dedication to all aspects of Breakthrough T1D since their son Mason’s diagnosis at 10. We are so thankful to the entire Cametas family for their support of our community in Virginia!

The Samples Family kicked off Fund A Cure with incredibly emotional remarks and a moving video. Their twin sons, Jack and Bill, were diagnosed at 15 months and 15 years old, and their remarks left the room with a sense of hope for the future highlighting how recent breakthroughs in technology have changed the lives of their sons and the entire family.
