Ambassador Ron Weiser and Family Commit to a Corporate Challenge for Breakthrough T1D

Ambassador Ron Weiser of McKinley and his family, including wife Eileen Weiser, announced a $50,000 corporate challenge to the Breakthrough T1D One Walk – Ann Arbor.  All new and increased corporate sponsorships committed to the Breakthrough T1D One Walk – Ann Arbor will be matched dollar for dollar up to $50,000.  This contribution is in addition to the previously announced significant corporate sponsorship from McKinley to Breakthrough T1D of $250,000 over five years.

The Breakthrough T1D One Walk- Ann Arbor is the premiere event in Washtenaw County that secures funds to cure, treat and prevent Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).  McKinley and Amb. Weiser are no strangers to challenging the business community to raise money for Breakthrough T1D.  In 2014 at the Breakthrough T1D Corporate Recruitment Event, Amb. Weiser created the first corporate challenge that raised $210,000 in sponsorships, blasting through previous corporate support of $15,000.  Amb. and Mrs. Weiser created this challenge in honor of family members who have T1D, but the impact of these funds will extend to the 1.25 million people who live daily with this disease.

The goal of the 2016 Breakthrough T1D One Walk – Ann Arbor is to raise $1,000,000 for critical T1D research.  Last year the walk raised $875,000.  It is the hope that this corporate challenge will be the spark that is needed to reach this significant goal.  Companies already committed to turning Type One into Type None include: Absopure, Bank of Ann Arbor, Berkadia, Comerica Bank, Mainstreet Ventures, and University of Michigan Health System.  It is also significant to note that Breakthrough T1D had invested $35 million dollars in the past ten years to promising research at the University of Michigan Health System.

The Breakthrough T1D One Walk – Ann Arbor takes place on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter.  Mark your calendars!  To learn more about participating in the corporate sponsorship challenge or about how to get involved with the Breakthrough T1D One Walk –Ann Arbor to help cure type 1 diabetes, please contact Heidi Fisher at hfisher@BreakthroughT1D.org or 248-936-1284.
