Join us for a free half-day, in-person, educational summit event, bringing together all within the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community. Learn about research advances, participate in discussions with experts, and meet others living with or caring for someone with T1D. Educational sessions will be focused on T1D care and management and will be geared for different audiences. The summit will also include a vendor fair featuring industry and community partners. Pre-registration is required for the Breakthrough T1D Community Summit Providence by Thursday, May 1 at noon EDT. We cannot accept walk-in registrations the day of the event.

Educational Sessions

• Keynote: Living Well with T1D: A Love Story
• Developing School Partnerships to Support Learning in Children with T1D | Growing up with T1D is complicated. In this workshop, we discuss raising kids with T1D to be strong and healthy, both physically and mentally. We talk about the emotional and social aspects of growing up with a chronic medical condition, focusing on how parents can partner with schools. We’ll cover the impact of blood sugar fluctuations on brain functioning and learning, and how to work with teachers and school nurses to foster learning and development. We’ll also discuss accommodations that can be integrated into 504 plans and IEPs so that our T1D kids can grow and thrive.
